The XR4Register at Meguiar's HQ Detailing Morning - Sat 17th Feb
|
Although it wasn't a show, we thought this was an ideal opportunity to attend Meguiar's seminar before the show season starts. Booked well in advance by Dave W, we were only the 2nd club to experience this workshop and it certainly proved to be informative to all those that attended. Thanks to Dave for sorting this visit.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Dom Berry and Jim Sutherland of Meguiar's and they promptly showed us the kitchen, where tea, coffee and biscuits were on tap. This was just the ticket to warm us up prior to the presentation taking place.
Held at their new facilities in Daventry, the event was hosted almost entirely indoors and in optimal conditions within their purpose built detailing bay.
The 45 minute presentation of 'Best Practice' was held in their Training Room. Dom went through Meguiars history, various do's and dont's in addition to going through their product range. It was a great opportunity to ask questions whilst their products were passed around for our inquisitive crew. Whether you were a 'Valet Veteran', or a 'Wash n Wax Novice', there was something here that everyone could relate to.
Their aim was to attract enthusiasts with a passion for making their car look the best it possibly can, in this case they asked us to bring along a car, which they could demonstrate their products on. Mr Anderson was very quick on the uptake of this offer with his Cosworth powered XR4i
Outdoors with our buckets, wash mits and shampoos at the ready, Mark's car received a quick jet wash, to remove any dirt and grit from the surface. This was followed by a shampoo and wash from top to bottom. All that remained was to dry the car before taking it into the detailing bay. Before we could empty the buckets and wring out the chamois, Ando sped off to give his car a quick spin round the block. That's one way to dry it out !
We all gathered indoors to an inviting Detailing Bay where Ando accurately positioned his car. Dom and Jim carried out further surface analysis and preparation on the XR4i prior to demonstrating their products and techniques. They also gave everyone an opportunity to put their mugs of tea down and get some hands-on practice using their products.
Perhaps it may not be too noticeable in the pictures, but there was a distinct difference before and after the application of their products.
The XR4 Register would like to thank Dom and Jim of Meguiar's for their hospitality, time and effort for enlightening our motley crew on their product range and use of. Thanks to all those that attended, we had a very enjoyable and informative morning. With everyone armed with Meguiar's goodie bag of various samples; we are sure our members cars will be gleaming at the next show.
