The XR4Register at the Ford Enth Show 13th November 2005

Set Up Day (Sat 12th Nov)
Ford Enthusiast Show: with no theming this year, we managed to use the flooring in order to make our allocated 2 car spaces more appealing. We decided that Gengis's and Jaffa's cars were going to be the stars of the show so to speak , a standard 4x4 against a modified 4be. Having got there, Neil (Show Organiser) asked us if we could help fill empty spaces as a few clubs were not attending. We obliged and a re - shuffle of the stand was in order!. Bhav's & Paul's cars were used as templates for the flooring to work around and we used Alan's XR4i for yet another show appearance and so was already in place. We got the stand ready and waiting for Gengis & Jaffa to roll in with their sparkling motors to show off to the public on Sunday.

For once Alan, Paul, Bhav & Caz were all out of Donington Park before they closed the gates, thank you guys for your help and the stand looked the Biz.

The Show
Well, it was a bright but bitter day so it made a change for us not to be theming, which usually consists of us wearing something silly, getting strange looks & comments from everyone whilst walking around the show freezing cold. If next season the theme is not related to Summer again then we will be back in 4orce!

As we were putting the finishing touches to our stand on Sunday, we were once again asked by Neil if could fill some more space as yet another club had let him down!. Alan looked like Garfield with a big Grin as he went to fetch his GT and we also managed to get Matt in with his silver XR4i. They were both driven in from the car park looking a tad dirty but a quick spit and polish later with everyone lending a hand they were on show for the public!

The show had a slow start but became busy as the morning progressed and as usual it was quieter in the afternoon. A good variety of Auto Jumblers outside but indoors there was a few stands selling 'tat' and 'tack' though. All in all, still a good show to visit and pick up bargains or freebies as Dave 3.7 was already on the PE stand drooling over his PE t-shirt which he was given!.

Our stand was busy and hectic throughout the day. There was lots of people with lots of enquiries much to Caz's dismay as she was getting called away from the bar and her drink!. Visitors included Fitz aka 'Top Boss', Chris from Power Engineering and lots of faces from the past including, the nice folks from the newly formed Blue Oval Club.

It was good to see 'Yam Yam' up and running and eyeing up another 4i for next season perhaps. All in all a good turnout from the XR4 Register crew including Norman, Pikey, David A, Ross L, Pete & Lisa, James & Jo & the Carter Brothers aka Mike & Matt.

By the end of the day it was too much for 'Jaffa' as he was slowly turning to the 'Bling Side', not being able to cope with a standard looking engine bay. He kept coming back with more shiney chrome fixtures & fittings.

Well its officially the last show of Season 2005, many thanks for your help and support and look forward to yet more fun and games in Season 2006.

Caz & Bhav
