The XR4Register at Fiesta In The Park & XROC National Day- Sun 17th May 2009
|
The weather was pretty bad at the beginning of the day, lots of rain and
wind. Pete encountered a problem with his 4be, the key almost snapped off
in the lock, not wanting to risk the key breaking off, he opted to leave the
car at Bhav's so he, Steven & Daniel came down with Bhav in his XR8 and MkII XR4i.
We all got in OK as last year. We were set up on grass this year,
next to the XROC area. There was a fair mix of cars, a DOHC XR4i, the mad
orange 2.9 P100, XR8, a 2.8 Ghia 4x4 estate, a DOHC Ghia estate, Gengis' 4.0
4x4 Project WOO and a few others.
Numbers were about the same as last year but with less old skool stuff. The facilities are getting better every year, a good choice of food and a bar aswell. The general standard of cars was as good as ever. The weather did
improve, the rain stopped by about 1pm so we were able to go and have a
look round.
Gengis didn't show in Concours this year as his 2.9 twin turbo car is in
bits, undergoing some minor power upgrades (OK, so it is having it's guts
ripped out and a monster spec engine built).
