The XR4Register at the Spring Restoration Show 13th March 2005

This is the first appearance of Gengis's new project. Click here for Gengis's project ideas.
The Brief:
At the start of this show the car was trailered in, by the end of the show we were hoping to drive the car away. The XR4 Register were split into teams working on the following areas:
Interior Body:
Refurbish the interior and make it look presentable. Clean the floor pan and check for corrosion from within the car. Treat & cure any rust as well as treating the chassis and internal members with cavity wax & rust proofing agents.
Interior Electrical:
Check the wiring and rectify any problems.
External Body:
Clean & restore the paint to original finish. Treat & cure and rust aswell as treating the chassis and external members with cavity wax and rust proofing agents.
Suspension & Brakes:
Check & replace all components as necessary. Make sure all the brakes work as intended and replace any bushes, mountings etc which may have perished over time.
Engine:
As the original engine was beyond repair a donor unit from another car has been placed in the car. Refit all parts, replace hoses as required, replace all fuel filters, oils etc. Set up and tune the engine as required with tuning & timing equipment.
Set Up Day:
Paul and Alan came over with 2 sierra's full of the flooring
which Alan & Paul laid out over our vast stand which looked very
professional. Thanks lads.
We towed Gengis's barn find to the show having took 5 minutes to 'dirty it
up'. Something which Gengis is not known for doing as all his cars are
always spotless so Bhav gave him a hand to show him how its done.
We seemed to have so much space and only one project car, so it was decided
to show off Gengis's shiney bits....... so he brought his 3.98 secs TT
concourse winner XR4 complete with ramps, mirrors and the lucky bits of
wood!
We still had room for another display car so we persuaded Paul to leave his
2.0 XR4 there aswell.
Show Day:
Thanks to those that turned up to this event and to those people
who helped: especially Gengis, Bhav, Paul and Alan who cracked on non stop
to get 'Project WOO' started and running under its own power! The smile on
Gengis's face was so big that even Bhav couldn't capture it on a single picture!
