The XR4 Register at South West Motor Show - Sun 17th June

With the Classic Ford Show behind us yet another car show was upon us. With a kind invitation from Laura (XROC Devon & Cornwall Branch), some of the XR4 Reg crew were off to the South West Motor Show in Newton Abbot, for a guest apperance on the Devon and Cornwall XROC stand.

Myself, John Bell, Marcus, Bhav, Bob Mildon and Gary (aka Shrek) were all due to be attending on behalf of the Register. Saturday night came, when me & Laura were due to meet Bob & Kirsten, we found that Bob had decided to make a little holiday of his trip and would see us there on the Sunday. The last thing I was expecting was a lot of phone calls from the crew, unfortunately the bad weather & unforeseen complications had taken their toll.

Sunday came & we were still looking good so at some early hour on the Sunday morning Laura and I loaded up our cars with her banner, flag, bunting and anything we could think of. We arrived at the Newton Abbot Racecourse to find Donna and Russ from the South West XROC branch already there!!

First thing was to get the gazebo out (which Laura decided to tell me hadn't been up for a bit) hence it took us a while to work out how it went together. After half an hour success...it was up & positioned as the centre piece to the stand. A few cars were in position & we were looking good for show opening at 10:00am.

After a couple of texts later, we found the XR4 Reg crew were down to just me an Bob!, but with Lauras members she still managed to put on a good show of cars which was a result.

The weather did us proud and the sun managed to stay out all day which was a miracle as it had been raining both before & after the event. The show itself was well laid out with quite a few trade stands ready to relieve you of your hard earned cash. Bob found this all too tempting when he found the Meguiars stand, I found a different stand doing a 3 for 2 offer on some Meguiars products, so it wasn't long before I loosened the zip on my wallet and had a spending spree!. Russ however was caught stashing some newly purchased speakers in his boot!!

The displays put on were top rate with motorbike stunts, a robot display and proper helicopter rides too. Overall a great show which Bob and I enjoyed and I'm sure the other members would of as well, still there is always next year folks!!
