The XR4Register at Country Fayre & Charity Classic Show
This was a brand new show for us, one which came 'highly recommended' by
Caz's folks. We were told that we should attend as it was a varied and entertaining country fayre with bit of everything for everyone. Before you could ask where it was, off Caz went and started the ball rolling!
Kimbolton Castle: Not knowing what to expect we arrived and parked up on our allocated spot, the outskirts of the cricket pitch which was a new area
allocated due to high demand by car clubs. The gazebo was propped up before it was too hot to do anything and the layout of the stand slowly took place.
There was plenty of stalls, beer tent and various displays with some craft stalls inside Kimbolton Castle itself! Outside there was certainly lots to keep the kids entertained. With mini fun fair rides, craft & charity stalls, clay pigeon shooting and not forgetting the live arena where there was lots going on. From dog agility to hound displays, from sheep & shire horse displays to a parade of classic cars! It was all very interesting providing if you could find free spot under a shade of a tree as it was a very busy day.
If that wasn't enough, you could actually be taken on a drive in any one of 'exotic' cars! A donation was all that was needed and you could pick from: AC Cobra, Corvettes, numerous Ferrari, Lambos, Porsches, Ultimas, Harley
Davidsons. Tom, Paris and Joel all had a passenger rides in the Honda Goldwings. Tom also had a bit more of a rapid ride in a Corvette which uncle Jaffa sorted and on top of that, he also had a ride in Dave W's (aka Indiana Jones) car on route to the pub later in the day! Smiles all round we thinks!
The obligatory barby was once again lit by Caz. We could all get used to
this! But poor Caz was baking in the sun, baking in front of the barby and one can understand why she was spitting feathers! So, at home time, a few of us went to find a pub for some cool larger shandys and cokes with plenty of ice. Unfortunately the first pub was closed and with Bhav up front, it took a
little longer as he overshot the second pub! A few U turns later a pub was
found.
A warm welcome (literally) to Paul, Lyndsey and young Luke for joining us, we look forward to seeing you guys again soon. Thanks to Sharky (with his dodgy music) for once again feeding us with a little help from Caz on BBQ duty.
Many thanks to the sporting Bears Motor Club & also the Kimbolton Rotary Club for a great show. With the feedback we received on the day this event is definitely one for next years calendar.
