The XR4Register at Classic Ford Show - Sun 31st May 2009
|
The sun has got its hat on hip hip hip hip horaah!!... at last, glorious sun shone down on the Pod!.
The Classic show is certainly proving to being one of the best Ford shows on our calendar and it's certainly growing each year. We have it on good authority that there was over 10,000 ticket sales for this years event! Well down Ian (show organiser).
Everyone was eager to buff up their motors for the passing onlookers but Caz and Dave cracked the whip to set out the stand layout. A few members sadly couldn't make it, but we had a few new members join us: Paul with his Modified XR8 & Max with his stunning XR4i. If that wasn't enough, Bhav even managed to get George Newton to drive all the way from the Netherlands in his XR4i 2.8 ! Once Bhav arrived after handing out all the tickets at the gate, & shuffled a few latecomers onto the stand, whilst a majority of us were turning a nice shade of pink in the sun.. and it wasn't even 10.30am!
On the downside; there was a serious lack of traffic management in getting the show vehicles out from the display area. It was basically a free for all at the general parking lot. Most people spent a good couple of hours or so in the queue watching all the non-show car owners and campers being let out of the gates first.
However, with plenty of Classic and Retro Fords on display, it was enough to keep the die hard Blue Oval fans happy but the addition of the sunshine and lots of strip action thrown in for good measure, the show was a sure-fire winner!
Thanks to all those who displayed their cars on the XR4 Register stand, once again we had a really good turnout and brilliant day enjoyed by one and all.
