The XR4Register at Ford Enthusiasts Show Sun 12th Nov 06
This was the first Ford Enthusiasts show of 2006 (The one at the beginning of the year was cancelled as it clashed with the British Superbikes
Championships) and also happens to be our last show of season 2006.
The theme this year was 'Poppy / Remembrance Day'. This to say the least was a hard subject theme. However, the organisers said that we did not have to theme around 'War' but any subject we choose to remember. With this in mind Caz thought it would be apt to remember previous Ford Enthusiasts Shows. Caz was not over confident that we would get a placing, as 'Remembrance Day' is all about remembering those that fought in the War, but we still had a bash & made our stand look presentable for the public.
The attention to detail of a few stands was really good as they themed to the letter and 'historically'. Well done to the following Clubs for their effort and placing: Anglia Club: 1st place / Capri Club: 2nd place / Sporting Escorts: 3rd place
Thanks to the following; Gengis & Nic for making all those poppies / Jaffa for printing reams of poppies and Pikey Pete for the use of his new XR4x4 mk1 on the themed stand. Also thanks to those that came on the Saturday to help set up the two stands.
The organiser asked us to fill a separate stand with a few of our members
cars that was marked for other clubs who could not attend. We managed to get an extra 5 XR's in the space provided. Thanks to new members Jerome with his
black XR4i Turbo and Gary C with his white mkI XR4x4. Also joining us was
Aaron with his blue XR4i Turbo. Pikey also bought along his Merkur XR4Ti not
forgetting the Track Boyz Pablo & Al in their XR4x4 turbo complete with their new menacing bonnet !
All in all the show went well. We only had one mad panic on the day and that was Pikey turning up in his Merkur complete with no keys to the 4be which
was on the themed stand! Fancy blaming your kids for forgetting them!!!!.
Caz & Stephen made a dash back to Pikeys home in the ST to retrieve the keys. They made it back to the show before the public were allowed in and managed to get everything ready just in time....phew!
A few peeps came away with a few bargains...... then there was Mr Anderson
with his shopping list, which was getting longer and longer as the morning
progressed, much to Jodi's dismay!. We also bumped into members Gary &
Sharon exhibiting their new hot rod on the Heritage Insurance stand complete
with Gary's brother Shrek (see the pics below).
We hope everyone enjoyed the day and also welcoming Laura (XROC Devon & Cornwall Secretary) hand in hand with Jaffa..aaaahhh, Not that most of us
knew who you were on the day as Jaffa was a bad host and never introduced
you but an XR4 Register welcome to you (better late than never).
Look forward to seeing you all ready & raring in 2007 Show Season.
