The XR4 Register at Interford (XROC National Day) 4th July 2004

Well wot can we say about this venue: Cars, Traders, a museum and a conference room full of people.

Still there were a few surprises as Ford are slowly getting real cars in the museum, although the Aston DB7 (donated by Caz) should have been a tad cleaner! They obviously knew she couldn't make it! tut!. The turnout was poor by last years standards but still good to see the die-hards keeping the faith.

No surprises either when it came to collecting the silverware as once again Gengis (Simon Stephens) & Norman (Legs 11) Brooks coming in 1st and 2nd respectively in Modified mkII XR4X4. The tradition of the winner buying the round still stands so it looks like its Gengis's shout at the next pub meet! Im thirsty already!, and caz wants a double Arches and lemonade pls :-)

Although Brian (XR4ti) was not there to defend his title for being unusual, (he had to fly off 2 the States again on yet another Merkeur mission) there wasn't a shortfall for the trophies brought home. David & Wendy Ashmore did us proud and brought home 2nd place in Standard mkII XR4x4 with a very nice example indeed.

Well Done to you all.

With numbers dwindling and even though some cars are off the road this season (or the last 3 as the case may be!), its good to see the dedication by the members. A big Thank You to every one that turned up to support your National Day AND braved the XR4 Register on tour pub meet! Perhaps the latter was due to the fact that DW bought a round in! Also cheers to JB & Lisa for taking some snap shots for us.

Same place same channel next year ?
