The XR4Register at The Restoration Show - Sun 1st October 2006

Traditionally held when BST ends, this show took us by surprise as it was in the beginning of Oct. It was almost a forgone conclusion that we would just be having a few cars on the stand as we had no project to do. However, as Bart always has unfinished 'Blue Peter' projects around, Bhav decided to investigate.

Bart, now the owner of Pikey's old 'JanSpeed' 2.8, had a few bit he wanted to do. After an extensive rebuild, it was taxed and MOT'd, something Caz had given up on whilst it was gathering dust in Pikey's Barn ! We had our Project... Bart & Pablos 'Track Car'! We went with the intention of getting the Track car ready and working as it had to be driven back!

Pablo & Bart brought the car on a trailer to the show on setup day (Sat) and the flooring was laid. The stand was 90% done, the rest could be done before the show opened on Sunday.

Sunday: Once again, another club had let the organisers down so there was extra space next to our stand and we got Jaffas and Barts other car on display too !

The show seemed busier than usual and we certainly had a lot of visitors to our stand. There were a lot of demonstrations and projects going on, more so than usual. However, we were on a mission....The valve clearances needed setting up, timing, the front bumper needed changing, rust prevention, side skirts needed fitting and Bart wanted his red 'Blue Peter' mudflaps fitting ! Ok somethings you JUST dont do !

Although it seems like there wasn't a lot to do, it still took us a bit of time. Access to the bottom pulley was non existent as the radiator would have to be removed so we did it the old skool way.... setting valve clearances by pushing the car back n forth. A tad difficult when you only have around 5 foot of space to do it in ! We managed it and Bhav was confident that it didn't need rechecking.

Bart had his orders of not doing things with sticky-backed-plastic so once the side skirt fitting kit was positioned, he was away with the drill and rivet gun.

Pablo was gofer for the day. He had instructions as to what to get. We thinks they had bought enough waxoil to dip the car in ! Everyone was busy in their own way and things were going smoothly. JB & Jaffa also lent a helping hand once Jaff had finished 'Blinging'

Everything sorted just as the show had ended. Pablo turned it over and it fired up hesitantly. A tweek with a timing gun and it was running smooth. Bart looked like a Cheshire cat !Time for a group pic and have our 'On tour' pub meet. As everyone was still there till the end, we decided to have it in a ..... PUB !

Thanks to all those that turned up, your support is appreciated. However, on the downside.... Bart has a road legal JanSpeed XR4x4.... so keep your distance !!!
