The XR4Register's Rolling Road day at Street Racers - Sun 25th May 2008

A nice early start on Sunday as once again we headed to Streetracers in Leicester for our annual rolling road day. This was our second year at Streetracers, as we use the same venue two years in a row to keep some consistency of results. There were only six cars in attendance this year but this did give us the opportunity to pick Gordon's brains for ideas on how to improve things where we felt our cars could have done better.

The day started with us meeting up at Leicester Forest East northbound M1 services at 8am. From here it was about a fifteen minute run over to Streetracers. As there were not many of us to go on the rollers, we had a leisurely start up.

Despite the low numbers, we did have a reasonable range of cars, a 2.0 DOHC GT, a 2.0 DOHC XR4x4, a DOHC XR4x4 turbo, a 2.9 Cologne XR4x4, a 5 litre Windsor V8 Xr4i and a 5 litre Windsor XR8.

We had no casualties this year, with John's XR4x4 turbo making 171 bhp against last year's poorly 87 bhp. This compared well with the previous year as it made 160 bhp at Power Engineering. Pete had his first set of figures since the engine transplant in his XR4i and I think he was impressed with the 300 bhp. More to come in the future when he changes from carbed induction to EFI.

This was a good day out, the weather was wet and it was cool which suited John's turbo, last year we recorded 37 Celsius in the workshop. Looking forward to next year's rolling road day. The venue has yet to be decided, all suggestions welcome.
